Welcome to the research and development platform Nova FoU

Nova FoU (Nova R&D) is a joint research and development platform at Nova Centre for University Studies Research and Development in Oskarshamn, Sweden. The platform is a cooperation between the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Co (SKB) and the municipality of Oskarshamn.

SKB has a general policy to broaden the use within society concerning research results, knowledge and data gathered within the SKB research program. Nova FoU is the organisation which implements this policy by facilitating access for external research and development projects to SKB's facilities in Oskarshamn.

The facilities are:

• Äspö Hard Rock Laboratory (located 500 meters underground)
• The Bentonite Laboratory
• The Canister Laboratory
• Site Investigations Oskarshamn

Nearly three decades of drilling, sampling and analytical work has resulted in a wealth of geological, hydrogeological, hydrogeochemical, physical and chemical data, documented in scientific reports and publications. The aim of the platform is to facilitate scientific progress and to generate spin-off effects beneficial to the region by opening SKB's facilities and giving access to the data for external research and development.
